The pawn looks small, but it can open paths, protect friends, and transform into a powerful piece.
How it moves on the board
- Moves straight forward one square.
- On its first move it may advance two squares.
- Captures diagonally.
- Cannot move backward.
- If it reaches the end of the board, it can promote.
Its advantages
- Can control the center.
- Protects friendly pieces.
- Can block an opponent.
- Can promote into a Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight.
